Naval Hospital Pensacola Sailors Give Back to Local Elementary School
PENSACOLA, Fla. - In the spirit of community partnership, Sailors from Naval Hospital Pensacola (NHP) gave back to local students by delivering over $500 in school supplies to Warrington Elementary School, September 17.
Donation supply bins were located at various clinic entrances at NHP and its branch clinics from August to the first half of September. The initiative, spear-headed by the Junior Enlisted Association at NHP rallied staff to support the local educational community.
“We wanted to help out the community and to give back to the kids,” said Hospitalman Jakylan Richmond, assigned to NHP. “We collected pens, pencils, notebooks, paper, folders and various items”
Warrington Elementary School Principal Meghan Honeycutt and school staff welcomed the Sailors, expressing their appreciation for the support
The donations are helpful as they are registered and given out to students and teachers in need throughout the academic year, said Honeycutt.
In addition to providing safe, quality care for active duty, retirees and family members, NHP team members frequently engage with the surrounding civilian community.
“We strive to be positive role models and our dedication to community involvement is one of the ways we express our positivity.” said Richmond.
These Sailors' initiative reflects the core values of the U.S. Navy, illustrating strong leadership and dedication to selfless service both inside clinical facilities and across the communities we serve.
