Times Higher Education features XJTLU’s 20-year journey

On 30 September 2026, Times Higher Education published an article covering XJTLU’s transformative role in higher education. Titled "Celebrating 20 years of pioneering future-orientated education", the article features an interview with Professor Youmin Xi, Executive President of XJTLU, and highlights significant milestones from the past two decades.

Drawing on XJTLU's response to the Covid-19 pandemic through the development of the Learning Mall, Professor Xi comments on how AI poses the next technological challenge the University is prepared to face. The article also highlights how XJTLU's unique education model, a hybrid of Eastern rigour and Western innovation, equips graduates to become global citizens.

The article also highlights XJTLU's new pedagogical framework, XJTLU 4.0, and its five new projects that aim to transform the campus into societal laboratories for the future.

Professor Xi says that XJTLU is grounded in a conviction that universities bear a fundamental responsibility to research and develop solutions to the world's most pressing challenges.

The University that spent two decades building something distinctive, Professor Xi concludes, is ready to spend the next 20 doing the same.
