ICYMI: During Trump’s Education Secretary Visit to Manchester, New Hampshire Democrats Slam Costly Kelly’s Voucher Scheme

Read excerpts from the press conference below.

At-large member of the Manchester Board of School Committee Cindy Stewart: “We have Donald Trump’s Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, touting Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s school voucher scheme on her ‘Return Education to the States’ Tour. [...] Today’s visit is a reminder that when it comes to public education, Governor Kelly Ayotte is happy to stand alongside Donald Trump and his administration. Kelly Ayotte and Linda McMahon can talk about school choice all they want. But real leadership means being accountable for the choices you make with public money.”

Southside Middle School parent Christina Goodwin: “We’re told there isn’t enough money to adequately support public education, but somehow Kelly Ayotte can find money to keep expanding a program that siphons away taxpayer dollars to wealthy families to pay tuition for private school? [...] Welcoming one of Trump’s puppets here in New Hampshire to help Kelly Ayotte sell the very agenda that’s leaving our public schools and teachers behind sends the message that our public schools are not a priority. After years in professional wrestling entertainment, Ms. McMahon certainly knows how to put on a show. However, our public schools should not be used as sets for photo ops.”
